Places to Visit

Vermont’s largest city, Burlington, home to the University of Vermont and the famous Burlington Waterfront with its 18-mile recreation path, used for in-line skating, biking and walking is only eight miles away.

Shopping, movie theaters, Vermont’s largest mall, and the Burlington International Airport are all minutes away by car.

Some of Vermont’s most popular attractions: Shelburne Museum and Vermont Teddy Bear Factory are less than a one hour drive. Stowe, Mt. Mansfield, Sugarbush Resort, and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream factory are also all within one hour driving distance. A day trip to Montreal, Quebec, only 90 minutes by car, is a must.

The new Echo Leahy Center for Lake Champlain is a terrific place for the whole family to learn about the history and ecosystems of Lake Champlain.

Each summer, Northern Vermont is home to the yearly Mozart Festival held at some of hte areas most beautiful outdoor venues.

Things to do

Boaters from Vermont, New York and Quebec regularly moor their boats right off Thayer Beach because of its access to the park and its natural beauty. Windsurfers, jet-ski enthusiasts and kayakers all enjoy the waters of Malletts Bay.

Fishermen love Lake Champlain. In fact, Malletts Bay is the home to the annual International Bass Fishing Derby. There is an abundance of lake Trout, Bass, Walleye, Pickerel and many more species. The closest boat launch area is only one mile away from Thayer Beach.

Summer Activities include swimming, boating, sailing, hiking, biking, golf (nearby), fishing, windsurfing, jet-ski and boat rentals (nearby), restaurants and shopping (nearby).
